AREA PREPARATION CHECKLIST

RESIDENTAL & COMMERCIAL

Our camera is so sharp that it can spot a dust particle doing a moonwalk 😉 To make sure it captures nothing but your property's best angles, we need to prep the location to absolute perfection. Please take a moment to go over this checklist and help us ensure everything is in tip-top shape before we arrive.

Interior

  • Access: Ensure that doorways between areas of interest are kept open while all other doors remain closed. Leave doors open to any rooms you would like to include in the shoot, and close doors to areas you prefer not to be accessed. Inform us if any detached rooms or suites are not accessible from indoors, but need to be included in the project.
  • Clutter: Remove all non-essential items to create a tidy and clean environment.
  • Furniture: Straighten all furniture and remove unnecessary pieces. Ensure all frames, wall art, lamps, pillows, blankets, and other decorative accessories are properly aligned and arranged.
  • Flowers: Fresh flowers always look fantastic and add a touch of elegance to any setting.
  • Surfaces: Ensure that surfaces such as mirrors, glass, countertops, appliances, sinks, tubs, and showers are free of clutter and clean.
  • Flooring: Vacuum carpets and polish floors to ensure they are clean and presentable & remove any carpets and runners that visually diminish the space.
  • Lighting: Replace any burned-out bulbs. Turn on all interior lights, including lamps and under-counter lights.
  • Window Treatments: If the space has a beautiful view, open blinds and/or drapes. Ensure the blinds are all at the same angle; a consistent look will be appealing.
  • Electronics: Turn off ceiling fans, TVs, and computers. You may set the TV display(s) to a static image, such as a company logo or branded graphic.
  • Accessories: Store remote controls and chargers & hide electrical cords and cables.
  • Personal Belongings: To maintain a clean and professional interior appearance, we recommend minimising the presence of personal photographs and items, as well as wall calendars, fridge magnets, and notes.
  • Sale: Restock any items you sell and arrange them appropriately. Minimise the appearance of empty shelves!
  • Seasonal Decoration: Remove any seasonal decorations, promotions or offers that are not intended to be visible year-round.
  • Wardrobe: Store all shoes and jackets in closets.
  • Pets: Ensure your pets are safe and remove all pet items.
  • Restaurants, Pubs & Taverns: Set tables for staging as desired, both inside and on outdoor patios. Ensure that staff completes all prep work the night before any on-site visits scheduled before opening.

Just a friendly heads-up: furniture arranging and property cleanup are not in our basket of tricks ⭐ woof woof

exterior

  • Signage: Ensure that all signs are up-to-date and suitable for the current use.
  • Business hours: If the LUSKA MEDIA specialist is shooting during your business hours, ensure that guests are informed and the area is cleared.
  • Motor Park: Clear all cars from the road and driveway to ensure the best view of the property. Park any vehicles out of view to enhance the presentation.
  • Grass: Cut the grass and remove all weeds from the cracks in the concrete to maintain a neat property appearance. Hide all lawn equipment.
  • Yard, Porches & Decks: Tide up the yard, sweep porches and decks, and ensure both the front and back yards are moved and edged at least 24 hours before our arrival. Additionally, attend to the landscaping and remove any toys, tools, or dog waste visible from any angle to enhance the property’s curb appeal.
  • Hoses: Roll up and store any hoses just like trash cans, as hoses left strewn about can diminish the appearance of your property and cause unwanted puddles. Ensure this is done at least 24 hours before our arrival to maintain a tidy and safe environment.
  • Sprinklers: Turn off sprinklers to prevent puddles around your property and tracking in mud. Also, do not water your lawns during the shoot or up to 24 hours before our arrival.
  • BBQ & Umbrellas: Remove BBQ covers and open up patio umbrellas to enhance the outdoor area’s appearance for the shoot.
  • Spas: Ensure the spa is heated to the appropriate temperature to capture steam or heat radiation.
  • Pool/Spa Covers: Remove all covers from pools and spas, ensuring they are debris-free.
  • Pool/Spa Lights: Turn on all pool and spa lights. If RGB lighting is available, set it to a static colour to maintain consistency throughout the shoot.
  • Water Features: Activate all water features, such as fountains and waterfalls, ensuring they are operational and clear of debris.
